What is the Ministry of Education?

The Japanese ministry of Education is also known as the MEXT, which stands for The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology functions. The system was created during the Meiji period under Japanese Constitution, which states, “All people shall have the right to receive an equal education corresponding to their ability, as provided by law. The people shall be obligated to have all boys and girls under their protection receive ordinary education as provided for by law. Such compulsory education shall be free.”[JPN Const.art XXVI.]

What are Its Effects?

Since the Ministry of Education is a government agency, any mistake made by the agency inters of educational content, affects all students in Japan. All schools are forced to follow what is decided by the agency, and therefore creates a  chance of the education itself being very biased, useless, or at the worst, incorrect.

Today, Japanese schools nationwide are compelled to teach a unified historical view. This system inevitably disturbs the freedom of education and belief for both right and left wingers. In other words, all children educated under this unified system are brainwashed by whatever is decided by the agency.
